Open to the public
Standing Cedars owns four private properties that are open to the public for outdoor activities such as hiking, birding, snowshoeing, xc skiing, and hunting by permit – Engelwood, Buffalo Skull, Tewksbury, and Brown.
Each of the properties is beautiful and unique, in every season. During the winter months, when there is enough snow, we set a 5km xc ski track starting from the main Engelwood parking lot. Angie Hong, a nature educator, said that Standing Cedars is one of her favorite places to go exploring. Enjoy!

General Use Information – Help Us Protect This Place
- Foot Traffic Only – No bikes, horses or motorized vehicles
- Dogs must be on leash from April 15 – July 31, for protection of all nesting birds and animals
- Clean up after your pets & yourself
- No Camping
- No Firearms
- Hunting allowed by Standing Cedars permit only
- No hiking advised during WI Deer Gun Seasons
- In winter share the trail & don’t walk on set XC ski tracks
- Foraging – Edible fruits, nuts, mushrooms, asparagus and watercress may be harvested by hand for personal consumption by the collector.
- Take only pictures & memories – The collecting of animals, plants (seeds, roots, flowers, boughs, etc.), fungi, rocks, minerals, fossils, archaeological artifacts, soil, downed wood or other natural material, alive or dead, is prohibited without permission.
